VERNON HILLS, IL - Rust-Oleum Corp., a unit of RPM Inc., has acquired Sierra Performance Coatings, a manufacturer of zero-VOC industrial and architectural coatings.

Rust-Oleum said Sierra Performance Coatings products are designed for applications where low odor is considered important, such as hospitals, schools, airports, food-processing facilities, office buildings, and other facilities.

John Simons, director of Marketing for Rust-Oleum Industrial Brands, said Sierra's products were developed with a patented, "truly unique" method of formulation. He said the products "far exceed the most stringent federal and state environmental VOC regulations and may well exceed regulations for years to come."

The company's product line includes coatings for exterior and interior steel and concrete walls, trim, concrete floors, and for various OEM applications. The products contain no cosolvents, and include epoxy floor coatings, waterborne epoxy primers and enamels, epoxy-acrylic enamels, acrylic primers, direct-to-metal enamels, acrylic-urethane enamels, and waterborne aliphatic polyurethanes.

Rust-Oleum said the acquired business will continue to operate for an unspecified period at its current site in Dixon, CA, and will eventually move to Rust-Oleum's facilities in Pleasant Prairie, WI.
