PPG Industries Inc., Pittsburgh, said it has been approved as a DaimlerChrysler preferred supplier of automotive-refinish products and services to DaimlerChrysler repair facilities worldwide for warranty and aftermarket collision repair. PPG said the designation is effective for calendar year 2001 and continues as long as the company meets DaimlerChrysler product requirements. The designation follows PPG’s successful completion of a DaimlerChrysler audit, which specifies requirements in the areas of training, services, research and development, and product systems. Product testing included performance in chip resistance, corrosion, adhesion, ultraviolet degradation and color-matching, PPG said. DaimlerChrysler will use PPG’s Global, Envirobase and Delfleet brand products for passenger cars and commercial fleet vehicles in all countries where DaimlerChrysler and PPG both operate, and the approval includes all DaimlerChrysler brands, PPG said.
