Engelhard Corp., Iselin, NJ, announced the launch of an alliance with Nippon Sheet Glass, Osaka, Japan, to develop and market new special-effect pigments for the coatings, ink, plastics and other industrial markets. Engelhard said the two companies are developing new metal-oxide-coating technologies based on a "unique" substrate that will generate a range of novel appearance properties.
