WASHINGTON — The National Paint & Coatings Association has announced the availability of a new electronic book, Preventing Childhood Lead Exposure: A Guide to Online and Offline Resources and Information About Lead Paint. The 54-page book provides comprehensive information on keeping families lead-safe; testing for lead; procedures to follow when buying, selling, leasing, or renovating a home; and what to do if tests show lead paint.

The “Resource Directory” of the e-book features hundreds of addresses, phone numbers, fax numbers, Web sites, e-mail address, and order forms for a variety of lead-related resources, brochures, hotlines, and state contacts.

The book is offered at no charge in Microsoft Word format and as a downloadable e-book program that requires no special software to view or print, the NPCA said. Both versions are downloadable at www.paint.org/lead-paint-ebook. Customized versions featuring a retailer, manufacturer and other organization’s name, logo and contact information can be produced at no charge for downloading from their own Web sites.

For more information, visit www.paint.org/ lead-paint-ebook, contact the NPCA at www.paint.org, or call the Paint and Coatings Industry Information Center at 202/332.3194.
