PORTLAND, OR - Rodda Paint Co. and Cloverdale Paint Inc. announced an agreement in principle to merge the coatings-manufacturing companies. Terms were not disclosed, and completion of the merger is anticipated by Aug. 31.

The agreement was announced by Rodda Chairman Thomas J. Braden and Cloverdale Paint Chairman Wink Vogel.

The companies said the merged operation will retain the Rodda name in the United States and the Cloverdale name in Canada, with the businesses continuing to be managed independently by existing personnel.

Rodda, based in Portland, operates a manufacturing plant in Portland and 41 retail stores in Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Alaska.

Cloverdale, based in Surrey, British Columbia, operates manufacturing plants in Surrey, Edmonton and Winnipeg, and 65 retail stores in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Washington state.
