Mr. Burrell joined PPG’s Chemicals Research Department in 1941 after earning a chemical-engineering degree from the University of Michigan. He held a series of management positions, including vice president of Chemical Operations, Chemicals vice president and general manager, corporate executive vice president of Operations, and president and COO, the position he held when he retired in 1984.

Mr. Burrell is survived by his wife Margaret; six children; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
