PPG Industries Inc., Pittsburgh, said it won a seventh consecutive "R&D 100" award for the company's development of the lead-free FrameCoat electrodeposition primer for auto and light-truck chassis components. The awards, sponsored by R&D Magazine, are designed to recognize significant technological advances in new products and processes. PPG says the FrameCoat primer meets OEM requirements for 10-year corrosion protection, and is used as an alternative to hot wax materials that offer corrosion protection for one to three years.
