The Dow Chemical Co. said its Epoxy Products & Intermediates (EP&I) business will discontinue the production of BLOX thermoplastic resins

The Dow Chemical Co., Midland, MI, said its Epoxy Products & Intermediates (EP&I) business will discontinue the production of BLOX thermoplastic resins, and the company said the business is evaluating divestiture or licensing options for the resins and the company's reactive extrusion technology. The BLOX line of polymers includes products for powder coatings, packaging and concrete. Phil Cook, business vice president, said Dow will focus on other growth opportunities that include recently commercialized epoxies and epoxy acrylates for UV-cure applications. A timetable for halting production of the resins will be determined following discussions with customers, the company said.
