The Aqualon Division of Hercules Inc., Wilmington, DE, announced that repairs are expected to be completed in the first quarter of next year at a soluble-nitro-cellulose production facility in Parlin, NJ, that was damaged by an explosion and fire on May 24. The repairs will return the facility to its pre-accident capacity, the company said. The fire caused extensive damage to one of two production lines at the plant, and the company has sought to maximize nitrocellulose production from the undamaged portion of the process. The company said it has adequate production capacity to meet the needs of its North American customers, and also is capable of providing product to customers outside North America “to meet their specific needs.”
