Huntsman Tioxide, Salt Lake City, recently started production at a new, 58 million ($92 million) "ICON 2" titanium dioxide (TiO2) production plant at the company's Greatham, U.K., site. The unit's annual production capacity of 50,000 metric tons per year will bring total TiO2 capacity at the site to 100,000 mt, and "will strengthen Huntsman Tioxide's position as the leading manufacturer of titanium dioxide pigments in Europe," the company said. Huntsman Tioxide previously shut down a 30,000-mt TiO2 production unit at the Greatham site as part of a major upgrade program for the complex.
