NEW YORK - Dow Corning Corp. announced the launch of a new web-based business that the company said offers streamlined purchasing services for silicone-based products. The company said the new business can reduce the cost of commonly used products for many customers.

Gary Anderson, Dow Corning chairman, president and CEO, said the business - named Xiameter - can provide lowest-base prices available for large-volume customers that purchase raw materials "without extra services." Anderson and other company representatives discussed details of the new-business launch at a recent news conference in New York.

The company said Xiameter, located on the web at www.Xiameter.com, offers a range of more than 300 silicon-based fluids, resins, silanes, and sealants.

The Xiameter.com website offers a sample list of products and prices and includes registration information and guidelines for use of the business's services and functions. A complete list of products and prices is offered for registered users.

Dow Corning, Midland, MI, is a supplier of silicone resins for high-temperature coatings; silicone intermediates, additives and water repellants; and silanes.
