BATAVIA, Ill. - DS Containers (DSC), a subsidiary of Japan's Daiwa Can Company, has moved its headquarters to a new manufacturing facility in Batavia, Ill. The 236,000-square-foot plant was built specifically for DSC and will produce two-piece laminated steel cans using proprietary Japanese technology. Initial production will be for the aerosol sector, but the company says the cans are adaptable to any liquid or viscous product.

For Daiwa, a worldwide leader in packaging, this is its first venture into manufacturing in America. Production at Batavia, on equipment now being installed, will begin later this year and will bring 60 new manufacturing jobs to the Chicago area.
