Some limited production will continue at the 522,200-square-foot facility, and the headquarters of Elementis Pigments will also remain at the adjacent location. Production activities for certain Pigments products will be increased at Pigments facilities around the globe involved in similar operations, including the new world-scale manufacturing facility at TaiCang, China.
The management of Elementis has made the decision, taking into account worldwide competitive pressures, capital costs, maintenance costs and the safety record at each of its plants. The downsizing at East St. Louis is intended to increase asset productivity and free cash flow.
