AkzoNobel’s marine coatings brand, International®, released a whitepaper examining how collaboration between coating experts and vessel operators can support performance consistency and emissions compliance through data-driven hull management.
The paper includes a case study tracking three LNG vessels coated with Intersleek 1100SR over a 60-month period. Underwater inspections showed minimal biofouling, and the vessels maintained energy efficiency targets in line with Carbon Intensity Indicator (CII) expectations.
The study emphasizes the need for accurate companion datasets—such as hull condition assessments and operational data—to inform decisions about hull efficiency, especially in varied operational environments.
International® has developed a methodology aligned with ISO 19030, combining hull roughness measurements, performance metrics and inspection data to help shipowners meet decarbonization goals.
