Axalta Wins Two Edison Awards for Automotive Innovation

Axalta Coating Systems announced that it received two 2025 Edison Awards, with Irus Scan earning Silver and MyColor earning Bronze in the automotive materials category. This marks the seventh consecutive year the company has been honored at the Edison Awards, which recognize market-leading product and service innovations.
“Innovation is core to what we do at Axalta, and we continuously invest to help our customers solve challenges across surface aesthetics, performance and productivity,” said Dr. Robert Roop, chief technology officer. “We are incredibly proud to provide next-gen technologies that address our customers’ needs and enable their success. It is an honor to be recognized by the esteemed Edison team and to work with the extraordinary talent at Axalta to bring these products to life.”
Irus Scan is the first handheld color measurement device for automotive coatings with three patented features—colored sparkle, hue-shifting pigment detection and gloss—which help accurately match the color of a collision repair vehicle. It is part of the company’s digital color management system and supports productivity, accuracy and waste reduction.
MyColor addresses demand for complex, custom automotive colors that meet durability and performance requirements. Its color delivery process accelerates OEM approvals, enabling color availability in four weeks compared to the traditional 26 to 104 weeks. MyColor also improves inventory control and helps reduce paint shop waste and carbon footprint through small-batch production using pre-blended bases and colorants.
Winners were announced at the 38th annual Edison Awards in Fort Myers, Florida. Honorees are selected by senior business leaders, academics and designers for their innovation across product categories. The awards, named for Thomas Edison, have recognized leading products and services since 1987.
