BASF Coatings announced the launch of its Sustainability Future Target Picture, a framework designed to guide the company’s long-term sustainability efforts and encourage industry-wide collaboration. The initiative outlines six focus areas for advancing circular practices and value-driven innovation across the coatings value chain.
“Our Sustainability Future Target Picture is not just a concept; it’s a call to action for everyone in the industry,” said Dr. Katharina Fechtner, sustainability and innovation manager at BASF Coatings.
The framework centers on six fields of action:
Know the Impact: Equipping employees and customers with sustainability data to support informed decision-making.
Energy Organism: Promoting intelligent, low-consumption energy systems powered by sustainable sources.
Simplify It: Streamlining products and processes to reduce reliance on fossil resources.
Close the Loops: Designing recyclable, durable products that support a circular economy.
Think Service: Developing service models that decouple growth from resource consumption.
A New World: Advancing innovative surface functionalities that enhance environmental performance.
BASF Coatings will present the Sustainability Future Target Picture at Hannover Messe on April 1 and at the Innovation Roundtable in Bergamo, Italy, on June 17.
