The European Coatings Show 2025 reaffirmed its status as a leading global platform for the paint and coatings industry. From March 25-27, a total of 25,681 industry professionals explored the latest trends and innovations from 1,216 exhibitors representing 46 countries. The high-caliber conference, which opened on March 24, drew 660 delegates and received consistently positive feedback.
This year marked the successful debut of World Paint and Coatings Week, offering participants a fast-paced but comprehensive overview of new product developments across the coatings sector.
Held every two years, the European Coatings Show fills eight exhibition halls. Six halls were dedicated to raw materials for paints, printing inks, adhesives, and construction chemicals, as well as related services. Hall 4 featured equipment for laboratories and production, testing and measurement systems, application technology, and environmental and occupational safety. Hall 4A presented a cross-section of all product segments.
International exhibitors made up 70 percent of participants, with the largest contingents coming from Germany, China, Italy, the Netherlands, and India. Visitors arrived from 121 countries, with the top five being Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Turkey, and Poland. Startups and emerging companies from around the world also showcased their innovations, drawing significant attention from attendees.
The European Coatings Show Conference featured 144 presentations focused on R&D under the theme “Shaping tomorrow’s innovation.” For the first time, the conference included two keynote speakers: Dr. Frank Brower, renewable chemistry specialist at Stahl, presented “The impossible project: A journey of transformation,” and Professor Katja Loos of the University of Groningen delivered a keynote titled “Designing renewable dynamic polymers for circular and advanced applications.”
Conference highlights included the presentation of the European Coatings Show Conference Award. This year’s €2,000 prize went to Gaoyuan Zhang of the Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences for the paper “Predicting Color Changes in Coating Drying Process: An Innovative Approach Using Machine Learning Techniques.” The ECS Student Award was presented to Luis Heller from the Technical University of Denmark.
