Microban International announced the launch of a new multifunctional coating technology platform designed to enhance and protect a wide range of surfaces. Developed to meet the evolving needs of manufacturers, these advanced formulations offer exceptional durability, adhesion, water and oil repellency, and chemical resistance. The coatings are suitable for applications such as flooring, exterior finishes, touchscreens, countertops, and furniture, helping to maintain surface integrity and cleanliness over time.
The platform includes both water-based and solvent-based formulations, offering manufacturers flexibility in application. Additionally, certain formulations incorporate heavy metal–free antimicrobial technologies that inhibit bacterial growth and prevent mold and mildew development, contributing to longer-lasting and more sustainable products. Backed by Microban’s extensive expertise, the technology is supported by formulation guidance, sales and marketing assistance, and regulatory compliance resources.
“There are multifunctional capabilities under this umbrella, with each iteration of the technology providing crucial versatility and functionality to different types of products,” said James Rapley, liquid formulations manager at Microban. “Customers have been asking for multifunctional coatings for years, and now this platform allows Microban and our partners to work together in delivering new and exciting technologies.”
To simplify integration, the coatings are available in multiple formats, including starting-point formulations (which can be used as-is or customized), ready-to-use solutions, and liquid concentrates requiring water dilution. The coatings can be applied through roll coating or spray coating, ensuring compatibility with various manufacturing processes.
"As the global leader in antimicrobial and odor control technologies, we are committed to developing solutions that support product sustainability by extending their useful lifetimes," said Michael Ruby, president of Microban. "We're proud to launch a system of technologies that aids in this mission while making the integration as seamless as possible for our manufacturing partners.”
Microban continues to expand its portfolio of innovative surface protection solutions, reinforcing its commitment to enhancing product longevity and cleanliness. The new coating technology platform is now available to manufacturers seeking advanced solutions that align with sustainability goals while delivering high-performance benefits.
