PPG announced new third-party test results confirming that PPG Coraflon® Platinum powder coating exhibits 20 times the color retention of competitor products for architectural extrusions. Testing by Atlas Material Testing Solutions, conducted under FGIA/AAMA 2605 standards, showed that Coraflon Platinum lost only 6% of its color over five years, while competitor coatings lost up to 80% of their gloss in the same period.
“Customers have long valued the color and durability of PPG Coraflon Platinum coatings, and this new data emphasizes our ability to outperform competitors in the market,” said Marizeth Carvalho, PPG global powder lead, industrial coatings.
Additional performance benefits of PPG Coraflon Platinum include:
- Extended gloss range (5-85) compared to standard FEVE powder coatings (25-70).
- Corrosion resistance exceeding 4,000 hours of cyclic testing, equivalent to 5-7 years of field exposure.
- Formulation free of TGIC, PFOA, fluorosurfactants, VOCs, HAPs, and SVHCs, meeting REACH compliance.
PPG Coraflon Platinum powder coatings are available globally for metal building components and architectural applications requiring superior corrosion and weathering resistance.
