Dunn-Edwards has revealed its first-ever Color of the Century, Viridian Odyssey. The deep blue-green shade is a new addition to the company's Color Collection and is inspired by the ocean. Viridian Odyssey was chosen to honor Dunn-Edwards' 100-year legacy and the brand's history of using blue and green hues.
The selection of Viridian Odyssey was based on extensive research and the color's ability to represent the brand's past. Dunn-Edwards' color experts found that blue and green were consistently popular across the decades. The company also wanted to choose a color that symbolized its commitment to the future.
"Since 1925, Dunn-Edwards has been dedicated to shaping the world of paint, color and design, and Viridian Odyssey has been there all along – symbolizing life, growth and resilience with an understated elegance deeply rooted in the nature surrounding us," said Lauren Hoferkamp, Lead Color Expert at Dunn-Edwards. "While the Color of the Century honors the past and everything that's brought us to this point, it also symbolizes a readiness for the next 100 years."
In addition to the release of Viridian Odyssey, Dunn-Edwards is also launching a series of decade-inspired color palettes. The company will release a new palette every three weeks in 2025, with each one paying tribute to a specific historical moment. The palettes will reflect the styles, trends and moods of each era.
Dunn-Edwards is known for its high-quality paints and coatings. The company operates over 170 stores in the United States and has a strong presence in the Western region. Dunn-Edwards is also committed to sustainability and produces its coatings in a LEED Gold-certified manufacturing plant.
