PPG is expanding its line of non-bisphenol A (BPA) HOBA® internal coatings with the introduction of the PPG Hoba Pro 2848 coating. This new coating is specifically designed for use in aluminum bottles, which are becoming an increasingly popular choice for packaging water, wine and other beverages.
The PPG Hoba Pro 2848 coating is part of the company’s broader effort to meet the growing demand for non-BPA packaging solutions. The coating is also designed to provide enhanced internal protection for aluminum bottles, helping to ensure the quality and safety of the beverages they contain.
PPG’s decision to expand its non-BPA coatings line comes as the company celebrates 50 years of innovation in the packaging industry. The company’s HOBA coatings have long been used in aluminum aerosol cans and tubes for personal care products. With the launch of the PPG Hoba Pro 2848 coating, PPG is now bringing its expertise to the aluminum bottle market.
The PPG Hoba Pro 2848 coating was recently recognized at the 2025 ADF innovation awards, where it received a certificate of recognition. The coating was also featured at the Paris Packaging Week, the world’s largest packaging event for aerosols, cosmetics and the luxury drinks industry.
PPG’s non-BPA HOBA coatings are designed for use in a wide range of applications, including monobloc aerosols, collapsible tubes and aluminum bottles. The coatings are also part of the company’s broader portfolio of internal and external coatings for food and beverage products.
In addition to its non-BPA coatings, PPG also offers a range of other packaging solutions under its PPG NUTRISHIELD® and PPG INNOVEL® brands. The company’s packaging coatings business is supported by a global network of technical service and supply chain teams.
PPG is a leading supplier of paints, coatings and specialty materials. The company is headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and operates in more than 70 countries around the world.
