Micro Powders, Inc. has introduced a new texture additive for powder coatings called MicroTex® 950. This new product is part of the company’s ongoing efforts to provide PFAS-free alternatives to PTFE-based additives.

MicroTex® 950 is specifically designed to provide a safe and compliant option for formulators who are looking to replace PTFE in their powder coatings. The new additive offers uniform fine texturing and can achieve single-digit gloss reduction, similar to PTFE texturizers. It has also been shown to be effective in a variety of chemistries, including polyester/TGIC, polyester/HAA and polyester/epoxy.

The introduction of MicroTex® 950 comes as regulatory restrictions on PFAS substances are set to take effect. In response, many formulators are seeking out alternative ingredients that can deliver the same level of performance without the use of PFAS. Micro Powders has been actively working to develop a portfolio of PTFE-free products, and the company has committed to exiting the PTFE market by the end of 2025.

In addition to MicroTex® 950, Micro Powders will also be showcasing several other new products at the upcoming European Coatings Show in Nuremberg, Germany. The company will have a presence at stand 5|5-440.
