Toyota Kentucky announced a $922 million investment to build an advanced paint facility, further supporting the company’s environmental and electrification goals.
Scheduled to open in 2027, the 1-million-square-foot facility will reduce carbon emissions by 30% and water usage by 1.5 million gallons annually. The initiative enhances operational efficiencies, vehicle finish quality, and production flexibility, aligning with Toyota’s commitment to achieve zero carbon emissions by 2050.
“Not only will our customers get the dynamic and stylish exterior finishes they love, but Toyota’s commitment to advanced paint technologies goes beyond aesthetics,” said Kerry Creech, president of Toyota Kentucky. “It encompasses efficiency, sustainability, and quality, leading the industry in environmentally responsible manufacturing.”
The announcement follows a $1.3 billion investment earlier this year to assemble an all-new, three-row battery electric SUV at the Georgetown site, scheduled for 2026. These investments bring Toyota’s total commitment to the Kentucky plant to over $11 billion since 1986.
“This year alone, more than $2 billion is being reinvested in this plant,” said Creech. “As the company and industry evolve, we remain committed to putting our team members first, ensuring long-term job security.”
Toyota Kentucky, with approximately 10,000 employees, assembles popular models like the Camry Hybrid and RAV4 Hybrid. The investment reinforces Toyota’s partnership with Kentucky, praised by Governor Andy Beshear for its transformational impact on families throughout the commonwealth.
Since 2020, Toyota has announced more than $20 billion in U.S. manufacturing investments to support its electrification strategy, including battery electric vehicle (BEV) production.
