The company has made sustainability a key part of its business strategy. PPG is focused on developing products and innovations that are more environmentally friendly. The company is also working to improve its own operations by increasing energy efficiency and reducing waste.
PPG has set a number of sustainability targets for 2030. The company is aiming to send 45% of its process waste to reuse, recycle and recovery. PPG is also working to reduce its water intensity and greenhouse gas emissions. In 2023, the company reported a 13% reduction in water intensity at its priority sites and a 10% reduction in scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions.
In addition to its environmental goals, PPG is also focused on social responsibility. The company has assessed 97% of its key suppliers against sustainability and social responsibility criteria.
Newsweek partnered with Plant-A Insights Group and GIST Impact to compile the America’s Greenest Companies list. The companies were evaluated based on their sustainability data disclosure and commitments. Only companies that meet the European Union’s sustainability criteria were eligible for consideration.
