PPG is renewing its partnership with the STEM Talent Girl program, an initiative by the ASTI Foundation that aims to empower young women in Spain to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). The program is specifically designed to address the underrepresentation of women in STEM fields by fostering early interest and providing mentorship opportunities.

As part of its renewed partnership, PPG will continue to support the expansion of the STEM Talent Girl program to more cities across Spain. The program is currently available in 15 cities and is set to expand to include Valencia, Malaga and Zaragoza. PPG’s support will also help the program engage more than 1,000 students annually.

PPG’s involvement in the STEM Talent Girl program is part of the company’s broader commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion in the STEM workforce. The company has been a long-time supporter of the program with PPG employees serving as mentors and role models for the young women involved.

“By supporting the STEM Talent Girl program, PPG is helping to break down barriers for young women in STEM and building a pipeline of diverse talent for the future,” said Nuria Martinez, PPG plant manager, Valencia. “It also emphasizes employee engagement, with PPG women participating as mentors to guide students and share their own experiences in STEM careers.”
The STEM Talent Girl program is structured around a three-stage framework that supports students from secondary school through to university and the workforce. The program also places a strong emphasis on mentorship with participants being paired with accomplished female mentors who can provide guidance and support.

In addition to its work with the STEM Talent Girl program, PPG is also focused on supporting the broader community through its global community engagement efforts. In 2023, the company invested more than $17.5 million in support of various organizations and initiatives.
