AkzoNobel Wood Coatings has launched a new campaign, “It all adds up,” to raise awareness of sustainability opportunities for North American wood product manufacturers. The initiative encourages producers of cabinetry, furniture, flooring, and building products to adopt innovative practices that reduce waste, save energy, and lower their carbon footprint while improving operational efficiency.
The campaign highlights how small adjustments—such as using renewable materials and adopting coatings that reduce waste—can have a significant impact on sustainability across the value chain. It also emphasizes the financial and operational benefits of incorporating sustainability into business decisions.
“By supporting our customers on the journey toward a more sustainable future, we aim to drive meaningful change across the industry,” said Bilal Salahuddin, Regional Commercial Director of AkzoNobel Wood Finishes. “It’s about working together, because it all adds up.”
AkzoNobel’s sustainability goals include reducing the carbon footprint across its value chain by 50% by 2030. The company has already converted to renewable electricity at its North American manufacturing sites, including 100% renewable energy usage in High Point, NC, and Salem, OR.
Sarah Skinner, Product Marketing Director, explained, “Our wood coatings solutions and expertise can help customers achieve sustainability benefits on multiple levels, from reducing waste to using lower-VOC and energy-saving products.”
The campaign also introduces tools like AkzoNobel’s carbon footprint calculator, offering insights into the sustainability profiles of its products to help customers make informed decisions.
