Behr Paint Company announced the launch of its first-ever BEHR® Student Design Competition in partnership with MattoBoard, a 3D virtual sampling platform. The competition is open to full-time or part-time emerging design students from September 19 through November 10, 2024.
Participants are invited to submit an original design plan for commercial spaces such as hospitality, workplace, healthcare, and multifamily. The theme, "No Clear Boundaries," is inspired by the BEHR 2025 Commercial Color Forecast, which highlights the fusion of past and future, digital and physical, and timeless and modern. Designs must incorporate colors from the forecast and BEHR's 2025 Color of the Year, Rumors, a deep ruby red.
The competition aims to support and celebrate emerging designers by offering them opportunities to showcase their talent. Judges include Erika Woelfel, VP of Color & Creative Services at Behr Paint, Guy Adam Ailion, CEO of MattoBoard, and key members of Behr’s design team.
The winner will receive a $3,000 cash prize and $1,000 for their design school, while the runner-up and second runner-up will be awarded $1,500 and $500, respectively. Winners will also receive a 1-year MattoBoard Pro Subscription, with the results announced in December 2024.
