Rating agency EcoVadis has awarded Evonik a platinum rating for its achievements in sustainability. The specialty chemicals company thus ranks among the top 1% of companies rated by EcoVadis in the past 12 months.

"The platinum award from EcoVadis reflects the quality of our sustainability management system and demonstrates our commitment to transparency throughout the value chain," said Thomas Wessel, Chief Human Resources Officer and Labor Director at Evonik and member of the Executive Board responsible for sustainability at Evonik. "We are continuously advancing the topic together with our stakeholders." To this end, the company is looking at the entire value chain: In addition to its own production and business processes, in particular the supply chain and the benefits of the products in customer applications.

The "EcoVadis Sustainability Assessment" looks at the sustainability performance of companies in the dimensions of "environment", "labour and human rights", "ethics" and "sustainable procurement". In addition, EcoVadis incorporates information from publicly accessible sources into the assessment.

Evonik is a founding member of the chemical industry initiative "Together for Sustainability" (TfS). The partners want to increase transparency and sustainability in global supply chains by conducting uniform assessments and audits of suppliers and using additional training. As partner of the initiative EcoVadis evaluates the TfS member companies every year through its Sustainability Assessment.
