During a recent American Chemistry Council’s (ACC) Center for the Polyurethanes Industry (CPI) Steering Committee meeting, industry leaders from BASF and Carpenter were chosen to serve as Chair and Vice Chair, respectively.
Tobias Haber, Ph.D., from BASF was elected Chair of CPI’s Steering Committee; he will serve in this position for a two-year term (2024-2026), taking over the role from Pavneet Mumick, Ph.D., (2022-2024) of Huntsman Corporation. CPI is grateful for Dr. Mumick’s leadership and service over the past two years as CPI’s advocacy, product stewardship and outreach reached new heights after the pandemic.
Haber currently serves as Vice President of Polyurethanes, Performance Materials North America at BASF, where he is responsible for BASF’s North American Urethanes Business.
“CPI is well recognized for its long-standing contributions to the polyurethanes industry,” said Haber. “I value this opportunity to serve on the Committee and collaborate with other members towards the impactful efforts that are part of CPI’s mission.”
Brad Beauchamp from Carpenter was elected Vice Chair of CPI’s Steering Committee; he will serve in this position for a two-year term (2024-2026). Beauchamp is the President and CEO of Carpenter, a position he has held since 2020, and he has been with the company since 2008.
“I’m honored to have been chosen for leadership within the CPI. Having been involved in the polyurethane industry for over 30 years, I have seen the value that the CPI brings to member companies as well as downstream users of polyurethane products. I am looking forward to contributing to CPI’s efforts in advocacy, outreach and product stewardship,” said Beauchamp.
Lee Salamone, Senior Director, CPI also said, “I’m looking forward to working with Tobias and Brad as CPI’s new leaders. Each represents two key companies in the value chain and their perspectives as well as wealth of knowledge will help CPI keep pace with the fast-moving changes of the industry.”
