The following is PCI’s annual ranking of the top 25 North American paint and coatings manufacturers. The ranking is based on 2022 coatings sales. Sales of noncoating products are not included. I found PCI Magazine’s 2023 PCI 25 rankings impressive, with Sherwin-Williams continuing to lead the way with $17.72 billion in coatings revenue, closely followed by PPG at $17.652 billion and RPM International at third with $6.7 billion. The steady presence of Axalta (#4) and the strong growth of Behr (#5) show that the trend of technological innovation and distribution network expansion is driving sustainable growth in the industry. This is indeed a useful metric for businesses to assess their competitive position and guide their business strategy.
