AMSTERDAM — AkzoNobel announced the appointment of Roger Jakeman as the company’s Chief Technology Officer (CTO), succeeding Klaas Kruithof, who retired July 1, 2022.

In his new role, Jakeman will lead the company’s Research and Development (R&D) function, driving the innovation and sustainability agenda. He will also continue to head up the Product Management Center of Excellence.

After graduating with a DPhil. in chemistry from Oxford University, Jakeman held various technical and marketing roles during his 35-year career. During the last five years, he led AkzoNobel’s Technical organization and successfully implemented the company’s R&D transformation program.

Jakeman commented, “I’m proud to take on a role that’s so crucial to ensuring we deliver the innovative and sustainable products that are essential to our customers’ success. AkzoNobel has built a very strong reputation for pushing the boundaries of innovation and is committed to becoming increasingly sustainable. I’m confident we can accelerate that journey with our talented R&D teams, in close collaboration with our customers and external stakeholders.”
