KANSAS CITY, MO – Online voting for the People’s Choice is now open for the 2021 Tank of the Year contest, presented by Tnemec Co. Inc., a leading provider of high-performance protective coatings. The public can vote for their favorite water tank at www.tankoftheyear.com.  

“This year’s contest looks to be another interesting one,” commented Scott Keilbey, Director of Sales – Water Tank Market. “We have nearly 300 water tank nominations of all varieties this year, from all over the U.S. and Canada.”

Only one vote is allowed per person, but voters will be able to view the front-runners at any time when they revisit the site. Voting will be open for two weeks, closing on Oct. 15 at 5 p.m. CDT.

After online voting has ended, the water tank receiving the most online votes will be named the “People’s Choice” tank and receive an automatic bid as a finalist for the official “Tank of the Year” title.

The People’s Choice winner and the 11 finalists selected by committee will be announced on Oct. 18. The 2021 Tank of the Year will be announced on Oct. 22. All finalists and nominees will appear in Tnemec’s 2022 water tank calendar, beginning with the Tank of the Year winner in January.

Last year’s People’s Choice tank was in Bossier City, Louisiana, where the city’s patriotic water tank reads, “We Salute Our First Responders.” The top of this hydropillar tank is adorned with the silhouette of a B-52 Bomber, a nod to pilots flying over the city from the nearby Barksdale Air Force Base.

“Every year, the water tank nominees continue to get more and more innovative,” added Keilbey. “Based on the tanks submitted this year, we feel this trend will continue. And we can’t wait to see which tank people choose as their favorite.”
