COVENTRY, UK — The British Coatings Federation (BCF) recently announced its finalists for the Student of the Year and Coatings Care awards. The winners of these awards will be announced at the BCF’s Annual Conference and Awards dinner in Manchester on Oct. 14.

The Student of the Year is awarded to a student who has achieved the best grades in their Coatings Training Institute (CTI) modules. The CTI offers 52 module choices with a mix and match approach that includes modules aimed at level 2 through to level 5. The shortlisted students are: Linda Ferrante, FCSonneborn; Bert Jones, FCSonneborn; and Georgina Tobin, Color Communications Europe CCE. Synthomer is the sponsor of the award.

Coatings Care is a voluntary program where members can benchmark their environmental performance against 45 KPIs.

The Coatings Care Overall Best Performer Award is presented to the company that has demonstrated best-in-class performance across a range of key performance indicators, such as waste and recycling, and VOC emissions. The companies shortlisted for this award are: Teal & Mackrill Ltd., Farrow and Ball, AkzoNobel Decorative Ashington, HMG Paints and Dacrylate. Verlingue is the sponsor of this award.

The Coatings Care Progress Award is presented to the company that has made the most significant year on year improvement in their performance against the 45 KPIs. The shortlisted companies for this award are: Crown Paints (Hull), Pulse Printing Products, Crown Paints (Darwen), HuberGroup, and PPG Whitford.
