Mueller Corp. is offering Cerakote ceramic polymer-based functional coatings for metals, plastics, polymers, composites, hydrographics and PVD. Cerakote ceramic polymer-based coatings are widely used for aerospace and defense applications, as well as medical devices.

Formulated to withstand temperatures up to 2,000 °F, Cerakote’s high-temperature ceramic coatings are functional coatings for products facing extreme environments. Cerakote is applied on a variety of materials including machined aluminum and stainless, stamped metal, composites, molded and machined plastics, carbon fiber, and more.

The company reports that the coatings provide better thermal barrier properties than other high-temperature coatings, and heated and un-heated corrosion resistance. The coatings can withstand thermal shock without degrading or losing color and to have extremely high chemical resistance (specific chemical performance available by request). They are also VOC exempt in all 50 states. Applications include firearms for both the military, law enforcement and civilians; military optics, scopes, tactical lights and other accessories; Department of Defense electronic enclosures; Department of Defense and aerospace components for vehicles, aircraft, naval vessels and munitions; automotive components; and solar.
