WAALWIJK, Netherlands – The CSR performance of specialty chemical company Stahl has received the EcoVadis Silver Medal. The evaluation is based on four main themes: environment, human and labor rights, business ethics, and responsible sourcing.
EcoVadis provides holistic sustainability rating services to companies, delivered via a global cloud-based SaaS platform. Stahl was rated on the material issues as they pertain to the company's size, location and industry. These evidence-based assessments are refined into scorecards, and the scores lead to a medal (bronze, silver or gold).
Michael Costello, ESG Director at Stahl, said, “The external rating from EcoVadis provides many useful insights. We are ranked among the top 10% of peers that have a confirmed CSR engagement and even in the top 1% of companies on sustainable procurement. The scorecards provide guidance on strengths and improvement areas, which we can use to focus our sustainability efforts and develop corrective action plans to improve our sustainability performance.”
Pascal Weijters, Group Director Procurement, said, “Since late 2019, we use the Ecovadis system to gain more insights in the sustainability performance of our suppliers. This supports our goal to further build on a future proof sustainable and reliable supply network.”
Stahl’s suppliers are challenged each day to supply the best products and materials without compromising Stahl’s CSR standards. Suppliers are expected to comply with the Stahl Code of Conduct, to use a proactive approach in maintaining the standards set forth in the Code of Conduct, and to conduct themselves with responsibility and integrity.
