LAWRENCE, KS – Metal effect pigments provider SCHLENK has acquired the industrial company API Americas, Lawrence, Kansas. The new location will produce vacuum metallized foils for use at SCHLENK’s German production facilities in Roth and Barnsdorf.

"With this acquisition we are taking a long-planned, strategically important step of ensuring high-quality pre-products for our future products manufactured in the Roth and Barnsdorf plants," said CEO Joachim von Schlenk.

API Americas was the U.S. subsidiary of the API Group, a leading manufacturer of films and laminates, and a supplier of important pre-products for the manufacture of SCHLENK’s metallic pigments in Roth and Barnsdorf. "By taking this step, we are now and for the time after coronavirus, positioning ourselves in a high-quality position to ensure innovation and help guarantee the supply of an important pre-product now under our own management."

API Americas will continue to be operated by SCHLENK, with 17 employees in Lawrence, Kansas, and will be part of the corporate group.

With a team of approximately 1,000 employees worldwide, SCHLENK produces highly specialized chemical products for industrial processing.
