SOUTH BOSTON, VA – The ChemQuest Group Inc. has added Dr. Victoria Scarborough as Vice President of Collaborative Innovation.
Scarborough is well known as a research and development leader and subject matter expert for the commercialization of new technology that leverages open innovation. Her leadership strengths include aligning company stakeholders, external global partners and multi-disciplined technologists for technology-driven marketing, finance, manufacturing, and research and development functions.
Scarborough earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Mary Washington and received her Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of TN Health Science Center. She pursued an MBA from Christian Brothers University and later participated in the Sherwin-Williams Leadership Excellence Program at Case Western Reserve University. In 2012, Scarborough completed the Licensing Executives Society’s Best Practices in Licensing: Developing, Negotiating & Executing Transactions program.
For more than 25 years, Scarborough has advanced technology in the public and private sector ranging from the DoD and federal laboratories, universities, and multinational corporations, to individual inventors and start-ups, often by creating and managing complex research and development and commercialization activities, with multimillion-dollar budgets.
From 1981–2007, as the R&D Director for Sherwin-Williams Co.’s WoodCare Group in Memphis, Tennessee, Scarborough became widely known as a wood coatings expert. For the next 10 years, she honed her skills as the Director of New Technology (2007–2010) then Program Director of Global External Innovation for Sherwin-Williams (2010–2017).
Scarborough’s diverse background at Sherwin Williams was a successful springboard for negotiating multiple technology licensing agreements, serving as an independent technical adviser while holding multiple patents in breakthrough technologies.
She created and organized various global technical conferences, is an Open Innovation Master Class YouTube channel presenter for the Canadian Innovation Centre, and is currently CoatingsTech Magazine’s Inside Innovation columnist and a Publication Subcommittee member.
Of her new position at ChemQuest’s Technology Institute, Scarborough said, “It is an honor to work with such a distinguished group of colleagues at ChemQuest and to continue the innovation journey by providing insights into new technologies that provide meaningful results for our clients.”
