OLDENBURG, Germany – The German internet startup chembid and the Shanghai-based company MOLBASE have entered into a platform cooperation. Two innovative pioneers of the still relatively young online chemical business are joining forces to drive the digital transformation of the chemical industry forward. MOLBASE operates a leading B2B e-commerce platform, which has been on the market since 2013, focusing primarily on chemicals, pharmaceuticals and new materials. On their platform, the company offers various SaaS and supply chain services to purchasers and suppliers.
The core technology of chembid is a metasearch engine for commercial chemicals and plastics. The essential feature of the metasearch engine is the access to several thousands of external chemical online shops and marketplaces for search queries, and similar to travel metasearch engines, for example, the suitable results from numerous marketplaces are processed and made comparable. With the help of a central search, the offers are provided with a high level of transparency and clarity.
Customary for chembid's industry and marketplace partnerships, chemical offers from MOLBASE e-commerce platform (www.molbase.com and www.molbase.cn) will be available and made comparable on the chembid search engine (www.chembid.com). The resulting advantages for both partners are evident: while chembid is adding several hundred thousand offers to its existing large portfolio of over two million product offers, MOLBASE will benefit from numerous new, worldwide users who access the Chinese marketplace via chembid. "We are pleased that we were able to win another experienced marketplace partner for a platform cooperation with MOLBASE, who are highly regarded not only in China but also worldwide," said Christian Bürger, Managing Director of chembid. "With this step, the chemical offerings of almost all relevant digital chemical marketplaces will be available on chembid.com. For our users, this means even greater comparability, variety of suppliers and greater range."
Juliet Ma from MOLBASE is also looking forward to the cooperation. “With the strategic partnership between MOLBASE and chembid, both sides will be able to expand their worldwide activities, and gain new customers as well as offer further advantages to existing customers of both platforms, which would be quite valuable and beneficial for our customers,” said Ma.
In addition to the platform connection, a close cooperation in other areas is also planned in the future between chembid and MOLBASE, such as service offers, events or marketing. The common goal is to utilize the synergy effects resulting from the partnership and to tap into new markets.
MOLBASE is a Shanghai-based company founded in 2011 that operates an e-commerce platform for the chemical, pharmaceutical and new materials industries. MOLBASE's comprehensive database and in-house technologies distinguish itself from other marketplaces. With several million chemical data and over 120,000 registered users, MOLBASE is one of China's largest marketplaces in the industry.
Chembid is an Internet and big data company based in Oldenburg, Germany. With its operation of the world's largest meta search engine for chemicals, chembid provides market intelligence, sourcing and marketing services for commercial buyers and suppliers. It is chembid's goal to bundle and process the information on chemicals, plastics and their providers available on the web and to make this information easily accessible.
