CARLSBAD, CA - Nordson Corp. has received the Carlsbad Business Achievement & Distinction (CBAD) Award for Community Footprint (for profit) from the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce, Carlsbad, California. The Community Footprint Award is given to the company that best demonstrates a commitment to a positive community legacy.

"Nordson was founded in the 1950s, and our founders believed that to be a successful company we have to give back to the communities where we work and live," said Sara Vaz, Community Relations Manager, Nordson Corp. "So, we give 5% of our profits to charity every year. In San Diego, we've given over a million dollars to local charities last year, and our employees volunteer thousands of hours at community organizations.

"Nordson's an advanced manufacturing company so we have a lot of engineers who work for us. We know in the future we will need a lot of engineers, so we want to encourage kids into STEM fields early on. We believe that investing in education is the most important part that we can play in our community. We invest 80% of our funds into education. We want all children to have equal access to education so they will be successful when they grow up. The commitment of giving back to our community is really in the DNA of our company. It's part of our culture and values."

Nordson employs more than 600 people in northern San Diego County who work for several divisions that provide equipment to the electronics industry. These businesses design, manufacture and deliver equipment for fluid dispensing, plasma surface treatment, and automated optical and x-ray inspection equipment. Their machines serve global customers who manufacture consumer and industrial electronic products, including mobile phones, hearing aids, automotive electronics and aerospace products, which require high levels of precision and reliability.

The award was presented to Nordson Corp. at a luncheon at The Westin Carlsbad Resort & Spa, Carlsbad on April 5, 2019. The CBAD Awards recognize outstanding businesses, large and small, in six categories: The Risk-Taker Award, Beat the Odds Award, Women Championing Women Award, Community Footprint Award Nonprofit, Community Footprint Award Forprofit, Best Place to Work (Small Business) and Best Place to Work (Large Business).
