Professor Markus Antonietti of the Max Planck Institute of Colloids and Interfaces presented the keynote address at this year’s European Coatings Conference. He spoke on “Making Coatings More Sustainable and Affordable: Biorefinery Approaches to Monomers, Solvents and Polymers.” Prof. Antonietti reported on some modern approaches and processes to create monomers, solvents, plasticizers and even completely curable oligomer systems from wood-like waste products.
