TORONTO – Over the last year, DCC LANSCO invested over $13 million towards improved productivity within its manufacturing sites. Investments range from environmental initiatives and creating efficiencies in the chemical processing system, to developing technologically advanced products.
“We strive to continually invest in the future to allow our customers to succeed with reliable and consistent supply of high-quality, innovative products, while remaining environmentally responsible,” said CEO Mark Vincent.
Since the initiation of these programs, the company has seen improvements to the environment that benefit the surrounding communities. Having invested heavily in technology and innovation, DCC LANSCO launched several products that offer customers more value in use and an expanded color range.
The company made environmental improvements that decreased fuel requirements by 10%, reduced electricity consumption, reduced steam by 15%, decreased air emissions, reduced heavy metal waste by 50%, and eliminated lead nitrates in an effluent treatment system. Other environmental improvements include the use of recycled bismuth and vanadium, and a reduction in the amount of water filtered into municipal system.
The company implemented technological advances that resulted in a super strong BV line (the first to deliver extra-strong BV, providing better value in use, less waste and decreased shipment costs); a new product that is expected to be even stronger, with a value-in-use that is half the cost; an alkali stable BV line that offers greater flexibility for concrete coatings; and DCC® Orange ORS (PO.86), which provides the cleanest inorganic orange available.
The company announced that it would continue to invest in productivity and sustainability improvements to ensure a reliable, consistent supply to the market while minimizing its carbon footprint.
