The Northwestern Society for Coatings Technology (NWSCT) announced that all applications, essays, and transcripts for the NWSCT Scholarship program are due no later than May 1, 2018.
The NWSCT has created a scholarship fund in which 100% of the donations will be awarded to students. The scholarship fund was created as a way to give back to NWSCT members and their families while furthering the pursuit of higher-level education.
All applications for the scholarship will be judged on a list of requirements. Interviews may be held with the candidates to finalize the awards. The Scholarship Committee consists of the NWSCT President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Secretary and Scholarship Committee Chairperson.
To be considered for the scholarship, applicants must be a son or daughter of an active NWSCT member in good standing, an grandchild of an active NWSCT member in good standing, or an active NWSCT member in good standing. Active membership is defined as attending at least one NWSCT meeting per year. Students must be studying a physical science or coatings-related discipline. Applicants are required to complete the entire application form including signature certifying accuracy and acceptance of all stated terms and conditions. Applicants are also required to submit an original essay, 200-500 words in length, defining career goals and educational objectives pertaining to the coatings industry. A copy of GPA, ACT or SAT scores, and a business or educational related letter of recommendation, should also be included. Repeat applicants must complete all application information each year to re-qualify.
Awards are disbursed based on the funds available as a result of membership dues, sponsorships and multiple fundraisers held during the previous year. Total scholarships disbursed may vary per year, and no amount is guaranteed.
