CINCINNATI – On Friday, October 14, 2016, Michelman held its 5th Annual Global Day of Service. Hundreds of employees around the globe left their offices, labs and e-mail behind to volunteer their time at a wide variety of locations. Michelman associates in bright orange t-shirts were seen in the United States, Belgium, Germany, Luxembourg, China, Singapore and India, giving back to their local communities.
Steve Shifman, President and CEO at Michelman, commented, “This was our fifth Global Day of Service and was by far our largest. One of our core values here at Michelman is giving, and it was with great satisfaction, that I saw hundreds of co-workers voluntarily go into local communities and give their time, muscle and sweat to many worthy organizations who could use their helping hands.”
In the United States, volunteer associates spent the day at a number of United Way affiliated organizations including the Free Store Food Bank, Easter Seals and The Bethany House. In Europe, Michelman volunteers were spotted at Le Petite Plante, a residential service for adults with multiple disabilities; Ecole Fondamentale Libra “La Petit Cigale,” a local school; Tierheim Recklinghausen, a pet shelter; Deutsches Rotes Kreuz Kreisverband, a German Red Cross, and many other locations. Across Asia, volunteers spent their days helping out at the Kangqiao Gongyou School, at a public welfare cultural development center, at old-age homes and at orphanages.
Shifman added, “I’m incredibly proud of all our volunteers, not just because of what I see happen on this single day, but because of the volunteer spirit I see from Michelman associates each and every day of the year. I believe it is that spirit of giving that helps set us apart in the many global markets in which we compete.”
