ROLLA, MO - The Missouri S&T Coating Institute is offering the short course, “Introduction to Paint Formulation,” August 8-12, 2016. This course has an excellent reputation for giving the new formulator a good background foundation to formulate paints. Dr. Michael R. Van De Mark directs the course, which will be held on the Missouri S&T campus in Rolla, MO.
This intensive five-day course will take students through the basic steps of paint formulation, from understanding the process to an actual laboratory formulation. Through study and work in a laboratory, students can learn to formulate paints to meet specific requirements. Students will have the opportunity to study and experiment with basic raw materials and their influences on the performance of the finished coatings, formulation and testing of coatings in the laboratory to meet the special demands of the job, limitations of plant production equipment and formulation variables for moving a coating from the lab to the plant, and modern chemical instrumentation as applied to coatings.
Pre-registration is required, and enrollment is limited. For registration, call 573/341.4419 or e-mail mstformulation@mst.edu.
