At the opening session of the American Coatings Conference on Monday, attendees were invited to participate in a live survey on coatings markets and technologies. Although not surprising, the results were interesting. When asked what the most important markets are for their business, nearly 75% of responding attendees said North America, followed by 14% for Asia Pacific, 8% for Western Europe, 4% for South America and 2% for Africa. The most important future technology for respondents is waterborne technology, with 46% of the vote, followed by 34% for functional/smart technology, 13% for high-solids technology, 4% for UV/EB and 3% for powder technology. Results for what drives green R&D and the importance of sustainability can be found in tomorrow’s eNewsletter.
