CLEVELAND - The Lubrizol Corp. announces the addition of new vacuum metallization equipment at its Global Packaging Center of Excellence in San Cugat (Barcelona), Spain.

The investment in this new equipment is aligned with Lubrizol's goals of enabling advancements in the packaging industry and delivering outstanding support services to customers in the metallization market. This state-of-the-art vacuum metallization equipment provides excellent control when applying vaporized aluminum on film substrates and allows Lubrizol to accurately test the performance of primers and topcoats.

Sergio Escuriet, Global Applications Manager, Lubrizol Performance Coatings, notes, "Integrating new vacuum metallization capabilities means we can remain at the forefront of innovation, continuing to bring new coating technology solutions to the packaging industry. We're already using the equipment to test new coating products for film packaging, but our application testing will only grow from there."

The new equipment has a thickness-control system that provides highly accurate metal deposition results. "This allow us to conduct robust and precise studies for customers looking for the right coating solutions for their packaging needs," continued Escuriet.
