HAMBURG, Germany - AkzoNobel has appointed Krahn Chemie as its distribution partner for the construction industry in Benelux for the Bermocoll® cellulose ethers and Elotex® emulsion powders product groups.
Both companies already have a long partnership for Bermocoll cellulose ethers and Elotex emulsion powders for paints and coatings applications. Lapis Minerals & Chemicals, whose distribution business Krahn Chemie recently acquired, previously provided the distribution to the construction industry.
Bermocoll cellulose ether thickeners and Elotex redispersible polymer powders are used primarily for dry mortar in the construction industry. Typical applications are tile adhesives, flooring formulations, grouts, mortar for insulation systems, waterproofing membranes, repair mortar, joint filler, cement and lime-based renders, and gypsum plaster.
"We see the acquisition of Lapis by Krahn Chemie as very positive. We are convinced that it will guarantee even better support for our customers, and the market development will be more intense," said Gilles Razzauti, Commercial Manager Europe at AkzoNobel Performance Additives.
"AkzoNobel is a leading producer of raw materials for dry mortar. We are looking forward to expanding our cooperation and see AkzoNobel as an excellent strategic partner for further expansion of our construction chemicals business," said Cristian Groenewegen, Managing Director of Krahn Chemie Benelux.
