PITTSBURGH – The Connor Group Central Support Office in Miamisburg, OH, which features metal coatings products from PPG, received a 2015 Chairman’s Award from the Metal Construction Association (MCA) for overall excellence during the METALCON Tradeshow and Conference in Tampa, FL.
The two-story building’s exterior features a modern façade, with folding and triangulated sections of aluminum composite material (ACM) brush-finished with DURABRITE® clear fluoropolymer coatings by PPG. Based on proven and durable gloss- and color-retaining fluoroethylene vinyl ether (FEVE) resin technology developed by PPG, Durabrite coatings are engineered to showcase the natural look of metal while adding the depth of image architects demand.
3A Composites USA, Davidson, NC, manufactured the finished ALUCOBOND® natural ACM for the structure, which was constructed at the Dayton-Wright Brothers Airport in Ohio. Architect firm Moody Nolan, Columbus, OH, designed the building, which is expected to earn certification through the LEED® green building program.
The Chairman’s Awards are given to the year’s most exceptional building projects involving MCA member companies. Awards are based on overall appearance, significance of metal in the project, innovative use of metal, and the role of metal in achieving project objectives, as selected by a panel of professional architects.
