THE WOODLANDS, TX/FLORHAM PARK, NJ — BASF has signed an exclusive distribution agreement with Nexeo Solutions, a privately owned chemical distributor, for the distribution of BASF’s specialty high-performance solvents in the United States and Canada. Through this exclusive relationship, Nexeo gains access to a BASF product offering that is well aligned with its focused markets.

BASF is a leading domestic producer of certain specialty high-performance solvent chemistries including:

• glycol diethers (or glymes), a reactive solvent used in inks, specialty coatings, adhesives and cleaning compounds;
• 1,3-dioxolane: a solvent or re-agent used to dissolve polar polymers such as polyesters, epoxies and urethanes; and
• 1,4-dioxane: a process and reaction solvent mainly used in the manufacture of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and fine chemicals.
