WESTLAKE, OH - Q-Lab Corp. announced that Doug Grossman, President of the company, recently received the Warren Ketola Memorial Award.
The award is given in memory of Warren Ketola, a pioneer in weathering testing at 3M. Ketola was responsible for many of the early G03 weathering standards currently used throughout the world. Grossman received the award during a special reception at the ASTM G03 Committee meeting held January 25 in San Antonio.
Grossman received the award due to his groundbreaking work with Warren Ketola and his support of ASTM G03 over the past three decades. Their joint efforts paved the way for the committee’s current success. Grossman was also the first and most emphatic proponent of the following principle: “The purpose of standards is to convey information to people who don’t already know it. Make things simple and clear.”
Grossman has been involved in the weathering and durability testing field since 1973. He has been a member of Committee G03 since 1986 and served for many years as Chairman of committee D01, on paints and coatings. Grossman encourages and supports a team of other Q-Lab employees to actively participate in ASTM, ISO, EN, IEC, SAE, GB and other international standards.
He holds a number of U.S. and international patents in the field of accelerated weathering. Grossman has more than 40 years of experience in the design and development of durability test chambers including the QUV, the world's most widely used weathering tester.
